Introduction

"From Me To You - Send Personal Video eCards" is a first-of-its-kind iPhone app that is the most personal way to send a message to someone you care about for many occasions.  

It's simple and easy to use:
  • Choose a theme from "Valentines", "Birthday", "Thank You", and "Birth Announcement"
  • Select an eCard from the Theme.  Each card is beautifully designed and most of them have gorgeous animation.
  • Personalize  your eCard with your own text and fonts.
  • Optionally add background music from the bundled theme music, or your iPod Library
  • Use the video camera to capture your message.  For example, you could video yourself wishing someone a Happy Valentines or Happy Birthday, or video your new baby sleeping as a Birth Announcement, or video your children saying "Thank You" for the presents they got.
  • Preview your Video eCard
  • When you have upgraded the Theme to Premium you can share your Video eCard by Facebook, YouTube, Email, and File Sharing.
"From Me To You" is free to download so you can "try before you buy".  You can select eCards, personalize them, add music, and preview them all for free.  Once you see how beautiful your Video eCard is you'll want to make an in-app purchase to unlock the Theme so you can make as many Video eCards as you want and share them.

Choose Theme and Video eCard

On this screen you can choose the Theme and then select a Video eCard from that theme.
  • Press the large Theme button to bring up the Theme picker (see pictures below).
  • Swipe left or right to browse through the Video eCards for the selected theme.
  • Tap on a card to bring it to the center.
  • Tap the Next button to Personalize your Video eCard.

Theme Picker
Tapping on the Theme button brings up the Theme picker.  Themes that have been upgraded to Premium through In App Purchase will have the word "Premium" after the name of the theme.  In this picture none of the themes have been upgraded to Premium:

Personalize

You can personalize the text of each Video eCard.  Each Video eCard has a "Title Text" and a "Subtitle" text field.
  • Press "Back" to return to the "Choose eCard" screen.
  • Press "Next" to go on to the Music screen.

  • Tap in the text field to bring up the keyboard and type in your text.
  • Press "Done" to make the keyboard go away.
  • Press "Font" to bring up the Font Picker.

The Font Picker shows you every font bundled on your Device.  The font list could look different in different regions around the world and might not have the fonts shown in this picture.

Music

You can add background music to your Video eCard.
  • Press the Music switch to the "On" position.
  • Select from the bundled Theme Music, or from your iPod Library.
  • Press Play/Pause to preview the music.
  • Press Back to go back to the Personalize Screen.
  • Press Next to record your Video.

Camera

Now you record your video.  For example, you could video yourself wishing someone a Happy Valentines or Happy Birthday, or video your new baby sleeping as a Birth Announcement, or video your children saying "Thank You" for the presents they got.
  • Press "Back" to return to the Music screen.
  • If your device has both a Front-facing camera and a back-facing camera you can press the "Front Cam" or "Back Cam" button to toggle the camera.
  • Press "Record" to start recording.
  • Press "Stop" to stop recording and go to the Preview Screen.

Preview
Once you've recorded your video you can preview it exactly as it would be rendered.  If you have not upgraded your Theme to Premium you will see a message (see picture).
  • Tap "Retake" to re-record your video.
  • Tap "Start Over" to go back to the Main Screen.
  • Tap "Premium" to find out more about how you can share your Video eCard.

Tapping on "Premium" brings up a screen that gives you information on what you get if you upgrade the Theme to Premium (in this case, the "Birth Announcement" Theme).
Premium Upgrades get all these great features:
  1. You get to use ALL the eCards for that Theme.
  2. You get free upgrades to any new eCards that are created for that Theme as the app is updated.
  3. You can make and share as many eCards as you like for that Theme with no limits.
  4. You can save your Video eCards to your camera roll.
  5. You can share your Video eCard via Facebook and YouTube.
  6. You can share your Video eCard by Email.
  7. You can use File Sharing to download your Video eCards from your device to iTunes on your desktop computer.
  • Press "Upgrade" to connect to iTunes and make an in-app purchase to upgrade the Theme to Premium.  This will let you share the video that you were previewing.
  • Press "Back" to return to the Preview.

When you press "Upgrade" the app will connect to iTunes.  You will be asked to confirm your purchase.

Once you have completed the in-app purchase through iTunes you will return to the Preview screen and see something like this.  Note that the "Premium" button in the upper right is now a "Next" button.  Now that you have upgraded this Theme to Premium you will always see a "Next" button when you make Video eCards using this Theme.

Pressing "Next" will export your video for Sharing.

Export

Your video is rendered for sharing.  Long videos can take a long time to encode.  You can cancel at any time.

Video eCard Player
Once your video is rendered a copy of it is saved in your Gallery on the Main Screen.

  • Press "Start Over" to return to the Main Screen.
  • Press "Delete" to delete the Video eCard.
  • Press "Share" to bring up an action sheet for sharing your Video eCard.
  • Press Play or Pause to play the video.

Share Your Video eCard
  • Press "Copy To Camera Roll" to save your Video eCard in your Camera Roll.
  • Press "Upload To Facebook" to upload your Video eCard to Facebook.
  • Press "YouTube" to upload your Video eCard to YouTube.
  • Press "Share By Email" to share your Video eCard by Email.

Info Screen

From the Main Screen: Tap on the button shaped like a heart with an "i" inside it.  The Info Screen will pop up.  The Help section is at the top.

Help
  • Tap "Instructions" to read this help page.
  • Tap "From Me To You Website" to quit the app and open the SmackTalk! Website in Safari.
  • Tap "Email Support!" to bring up the Mail Composer.  For the best support please provide as much information as possible including: Your device type, Your iOS version, and as detailed a description of your issue.

Facebook Upload

When you are logged out of Facebook you can press the "Connect" button to log into Facebook:

Log in to give From Me To You permission to upload videos to your Facebook account.  This web view is provided by Facebook--it could look different in the future:

  • When you are successfully logged in you can Tap "Upload!" to upload your video to Facebook.
  • Videos are large files.  Uploading can take quite a bit of time depending on your internet connection.  WiFi is best, 3G is okay, and Edge is very slow.  If you get an error uploading, check your connection and try again later.  Another option is to email yourself your video and upload from your desktop computer.
  • Tap "Cancel" at anytime to go back to the Video Browse View.
  • For your convenience From Me To You keeps you logged in by default.  Tap "Logout" to log out and remove your login information.
  • From Me To You does not modify your Facebook privacy settings in anyway--your default privacy settings are in effect.  If you want to change your privacy settings for this video you must log into Facebook with your web browser to do so.

YouTube Upload

from me to you youtube upload
  • Enter your username and password to log in to YouTube.  You must fill out each field to submit your video to YouTube.  When you tap in a field a keyboard will appear.  Tap "Return" on the keyboard to dismiss it.
  • For your convenience From Me To You will keep your login information as defaults.  You can Tap "Logout" to completely remove this information from the app.
  • Tap "Cancel" to cancel the upload.
  • Tap "Upload!" to begin the upload.
  • Videos are large files.  Uploading can take quite a bit of time depending on your internet connection.  WiFi is best, 3G is okay, and Edge is very slow.  If you get an error uploading, check your connection and try again later.  Another option is to email yourself your video and upload from your desktop computer.

Share By Email

When you select the "Share By Email" video action the video, a thumbnail of the video, and the email html form are first uploaded to our servers.

Then an email composition form is presented to you.  You can edit this form.  For example, you might want to type in a message to your friends, or modify the title.  Just tap anywhere inside the form to edit it.


NOTE: From Me To You Video eCards are encoded for high quality.  They are not encoded for internet streaming.  

If your playback stutters you should download the file to your desktop computer (right-mouse click on the "Download MP4" link in the email and save to your computer) and then play it.  

If you want to encode the video for streaming you have these options:
  • Save the video to your Media Library, and then share it by email.  It will be first be compressed using Apple's technology.  You can also trim the video.
  • Upload the video to YouTube and share the link.
  • Upload the video to Facebook and share the link.

NOTE: Videos are large files.  Uploading can take quite a bit of time depending on your internet connection.  WiFi is best, 3G is okay, and Edge is very slow.  If you get an error uploading, check your connection and try again later.

File Sharing

Videos can be large files.  One of the best ways to transfer a Video eCard from your device is using File Sharing in iTunes.
  • Plug your device into your desktop computer and start iTunes.
  • In iTunes select your device.
  • Click on the "Apps" tab.
  • Select "FromMe2U" in the File Sharing box.
  • A list of all the Video eCards in your Gallery is shown.
  • Select your videos and save them to your computer.
