   SmackTalk! Pro Instructions

Check out the new features in "SmackTalk! Pro" 1.3:

* 5 Interactive Triggers with Unlimited Record Time.
TAP to Play them.
To record: HOLD the trigger down and start talking after the beep.  When you are done recording let go of the Trigger.  Then TAP to play--it's so fast.  Try recording an entire talk show!

While the trigger is playing back you can change the Pitch and Speed in real-time (see below), and as in previous versions you can change the characters during playback by flicking left or right.

NOTE: Each Trigger comes with a bundled sound, but don't get attached to them--get creative and record your own sounds.

TIP: Do you think "the buttons don't work"?  Make sure that you have recorded something other than silence.

* SINGLE-TAP to show or hide the buttons.

* DOUBLE-TAP to change the Pinch Mode between Pitch and Speed.

IN PITCH MODE?
* PINCH IN to change the Pitch to FREAKY, in REAL-TIME
* PINCH OUT to change the Pitch to SQUEAKY, in REAL-TIME.

IN SPEED MODE?
* PINCH IN to change the Speed to SLOOOOOOWWWW, in REAL-TIME
* PINCH OUT to change the Speed to FAST!, in REAL-TIME.

* Doubled the Record Time.  Twice the Fun!

* "Record Now", for manual recording control. HOLD to record, RELEASE to playback.  Great for loud environments where SmackTalk! can't tell the background noise from the sound of your voice.

* "Say Again" button for manual override. Did you say something funny?  Were you laughing so hard your sides split?  TAP to Play that last thing you recorded. TAP it Again and Again!

* I have Fine-tuned the performance for every device: 2nd Gen iPod Touch, 1st Generation iPhone, 3G, 3G S, AND for both OS 2.2.1 and OS3.0.  When you upgrade to 3.0 you will still be talking serious smack.  I have also fine-tuned the settings based on whether you have an external microphone or not.

* GAIN. No matter which device you have, SmackTalk! makes the playback nice and loud.  Careful with that external microphone--it is very sensitive so it can distort on it's own

* INFO Screen with these instructions.

* Detect microphone for iPod Touch 2nd Generation users.  Display Notification if they do not have a microphone plugged in.  Nearly 95% of the negative reviews of SmackTalk! are from users of iPod Touches who did not realize that they needed an external microphone!

Details for Pinching:

1) The iPhone is extremely sensitive.  When you pinch, you are placing two fingers onto the screen.  But what really happens is that one finger usually reaches the screen a few hundredths of a second before the other.  So for that brief bit of time, the app thinks you are single-tapping, or swiping.  I like to use my two thumbs to pinch to make things really clean.
2) I pinch in small amounts as often as necessary, rather than try to do one big pinch.
3) When you double-tap, the pinch mode toggles between Pitch, or Speed.  Sometimes if you are pinching really fast you can inadvertently change the mode.  If you do, just stop pinching and double-tap to get to the mode you want.

Let's use Pitch as an example:

1) Double-tap on the screen until the little window says Pinch.
2) Use both thumbs to pinch *towards* each other a small amount.  You will see the slider button move to the left, the Freaky side.  Repeat until the slider moves all the way to the left.  Now talk--should sound freaky.
3) Use both thumbs to pinch *away* from each other a small amount.  You will see the slider button move to the right, the Squeaky side.  Repeat until the slider moves all the way to the right.  Now talk--should sound ultra-squeaky.
4) If you accidently change characters the settings are reset--just start over.
5) If you accidently change the pinch mode to Speed, just double-tap to set it back to Pitch.
