TrashTalker! iPhone/iPad App by Marcus Satellite

TrashTalker! Online HELP! for iPhone and iPod Touch

TrashTalker is a revolutionary talk-back app that lets you take photos and artwork of faces of people and animals and animate them to the sound of your munked voice.  You can share your characters by email with your friends.  If you have a 3GS running iOS4.0 or greater, an iPhone 4, or an iPad you can render high-quality movies of your characters and upload them to YouTube and Facebook, or share them by email.

Can't wait to get started?  See a short video tutorial on the Animation Rig Help page.

TrashTalker! will place a default animation rig over your photo, but the rig will not be lined up with your photo's head, mouth, and body.  You need to "Edit Rig" to line the rig up with your photo.  See a short video tutorial on the Animation Rig Help page.

* Select "TrashTalker Website" to quit the app and open the TrashTalker! Character Library Webpage in Safari.  The best way to learn how to create your own characters is to see lots of other characters.

Edit Rig
TrashTalker! Character Edit Rig
TrashTalker! has a simple and powerful animation rig that lets you define the animated parts of your character.  You can watch a short video tutorial on the Animation Rig Help page.

1) Red dots to outline the head
2) Green dots to outline the bottom lip and chin.  This creates a mouth that moves up and down.
3) A Magenta (pink) line separate the head from the body.  Usually this is the line between the jaw and neck.  Note that the Green and Magenta lines overlap on the chin.
4) Blue lines outline the body.

This is a conceptual illustration of the animation rig:

* Pinch to zoom
* When no points are selected, DRAG to pan.
* Select a point by tapping on it.
* De-select a point by tapping anywhere on the screen.
* Move a selected point by dragging anywhere.  Note: you can drag the selected point with your finger anywhere on the screen--you don't have to cover the point with your finger.
* Press "Done" to return to the Character Edit screen.

Points become large when selected, and the "- delete point" and "+ add point" buttons can become highlighted.

* Add a point by tapping the "+" button.
* Delete a point by tapping the "-" button.

The rig has a certain structure to it, so some points can NOT be deleted.  If the "-" button is gray you cannot delete the selected point.

When you create a new character a default rig is placed for you.  You will need to edit the default rig.

In this example, clicking "+" adds two points, one on each side of the selected point.  It then deselects the points.
